Testimonials

Carol is the total package.

She arrived in a period costume, gave a delightful presentation on women in history and the arts and kept our membership totally engrossed. I’m a believer in tell a story, make a point. Carol told stories that were entertaining and made a point. She sang verses from some of the songs for Bernhardt on Broadway, which were interesting and fun. Carol also presented a gripping passage from the movie, a jewel that had us all laughing.

The movie is going to be fantastic and her presentation was top notch.

We were entranced by Carol Dunitz’s presentation to the Royal Oak Woman’s Club on October 1st.   Carol shared with us the evolution of her current movie project, “Bernhardt on Broadway”.  To our delight, Carol appeared in costume and even sang snippets of songs she wrote for the musical!

Thank you Carol for sharing your extraordinary talents with the ROWC.

Mary Lynn Callaghan Co-Chair, Program Committee Royal Oak Women’s Club

Carol really changed things up when she came to speak. She arrived in costume, spoke with a French accent and passionately talked about her soon-to-be produced movie, Bernhardt On Broadway. She even sang a few verses from songs in the show. Carol is very entertaining.

But her presentation was more than entertaining. She made herself a little bit vulnerable by telling personal stories that humanized what she was talking about and drew us in. We learned something about how to start a speech and why. We learned about the need to empower girls and young women. And we learned how Sarah Bernhardt was not only a cultural icon but a great role model.

Carol interacted with the group during her presentation, inviting us to participate. At its conclusion she opened the floor to questions. We had a lot of fun and I think she did, too.

When my wife and I entered the restaurant where our Kiwanis meeting is held on Tuesdays, a waitress we knew cautioned us there was a woman in the back room who was definitely ‘different.’ “What do you mean, ‘different’? I asked. ”She looks like she stepped out of Downton Abbey,” was her response. Even with that warning we were not expecting our guest speaker to be dressed as Sarah Bernhardt!

As it turned out, Carol’s costume truly enhanced her presentation. Her program was well-organized, educational and entertaining. Her stories captured our attention and taught us about Bernhardt as well as current issues for young women. Carol sang a song from Bernhardt On Broadway, her movie musical, about overcoming obstacles  --and she did it with a French accent to boot. There was a question and answer period that wound up her remarks.

Carol did a great job. The Western Kiwanis Club made a donation to her project and a number of members also donated personally and received copies of her book, Louder Than Thunder.

Animation Campaign

The Bernhardt on Broadway animation campaign is all about spreading the word and creating awareness. Every day a new animation is posted to roughly fourteen different sites on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter) and YouTube. We’ve been banned on TikTok! Each animation features a different fictional character in her chosen creative role who tells of her success while concluding she “stands on the shoulders of the world’s first superstar, Sarah Bernhardt.” You can follow the daily posts or see weekly compilations here at BernhardtOnBroadwaymovie.com.
